Knowing who you are hiring
You’re excited and ready to start planning your big day! Congrats!
Step one, choose a date and location…check
Now that you have that figured out, one of your next decisions may be who to hire as your photographer/videographer. And while that seems like a straightforward endeavor, that may not always be the case.
Lately I have been seeing quite a few ads from companies advertising their photography and videography services, maybe even bundling them together into one cost for the wedding couple to consider. And while this “one stop” option may seem enticing, my concern is with “who” is actually going to show up. These companies often sub-contract these services out to individual photo/video people (like myself) with varying amounts of experience and a variety of work ethics. Your wedding day may be the first and only time you see this individual…kind of difficult to build a rapport with someone in these situations.
I love working with the wedding couple, being their point of contact from the beginning correspondence through their wedding video or photos being delivered to them. I love hearing about their plans, and what is important to them. I enjoy talking to them, getting to know them, and making sure they are comfortable on their wedding day, knowing that someone they’re familiar with is part of their wedding team.
