Why Hire a Videographer?

“Why should I hire a videographer?”

I know, kind of a loaded question/answer coming from a videographer/photographer… but one I can answer.

Let me start by saying, pictures of your wedding day are great to have. Hang them on your walls, show them to family and friends, look back at them for years remembering your day and those who shared it with you! Yes, I agree photos are an integral part of your wedding day.

But if pictures are so important, then why do I need a video?

Well, for one, a professionally done video will highlight all the important parts of your day. It will show the time it took to get ready in the morning, the fun the bridesmaids and groomsmen had spending time together, the way wedding party interacts and the way the wedding couple look at each other. It is the perfect combination of fun and seriousness, laughter, joy, and love.

And if that’s not enough, it provides a perspective of the day that you can’t possibly have. For the wedding couple, it’s their ability to see the day unfold over and over again, regardless of how quickly the day flies by. Their opportunity to be a fly on the wall, watching what it was like to be a guest at their own wedding…a guest with the very best seat in the house.

For my own wedding, the wedding video was my mother-in-law’s opportunity to see her own daughter walk down the aisle. In many ceremonies, it is tradition for guests to rise and turn to face the bride when she enters. My mother-in-law, standing at a whopping 5 feet tall, had no chance in seeing her own daughter enter and walk down the aisle. The wedding video provided this important moment for her, and continues to as she/we rewatch it.

So, ultimately I think a wedding video is a great thing to have. It is your opportunity to relive the day in as much authenticity as possible. Video truly captures real emotions as they are happening, and provides a viewpoint that one person, especially someone involved in the day, could never take in.
